Hey cozy friend! Welcome to my very first blog post here at Perk and Pause. This feels surreal in the best way, and I’m so excited to begin this new chapter with you.
For years, I’ve worked as a book editor — and honestly, it’s been a joy. Who doesn’t love getting lost in a good story? But for a while now, I’ve been dealing with creative burnout (maybe you have too?). I found myself craving a way to reignite my creativity in a soft, slow, joyful way. A way to strip away pressure and reconnect with what actually feels good.
That’s how I found my way to cozy hobbies (it all started with discovering cosyorenda on Youtube). And this blog? It’s actually my very first Cozy Hobby of the Month. (Don’t worry, I’ll explain what that means in just a bit.)
In this post, I’m sharing what cozy means to me, why I started this blog, and how blogging has become a gentle, comforting way to reconnect with myself. And if you’re looking for a low-pressure hobby to explore too, I’ve got some ideas to help you get started. So grab a warm drink, and let’s dive in.
Why I Started This Cozy Blog
You might be wondering: how could I possibly feel burned out with a job that’s flexible, remote, and book-filled? I get it — on paper, it sounds like a dream. And I do love editing books. But deep down, I’ve always wanted to be a writer.
I thought that entering the publishing world would give me more creative freedom. But over time, I realized that all of my energy was going into polishing other people’s stories, not writing my own. And while that work can be fulfilling, it wasn’t the creative joy I was craving.
So at the beginning of 2025, I launched Perk and Pause. Originally, it was a blog focused on helping work-from-home women create cozier spaces and better work-life balance. I liked it — but it still wasn’t quite it.
That’s when I started coming back to hobbies I loved as a kid: journaling, painting, cozy gaming. Slow, quiet, nostalgic things. And something clicked. This was what I needed. So I shifted the blog to focus entirely on cozy hobbies, slow living, and creative joy. And now, here you are with me.
My real mission? To remind you that life isn’t about perfection or hustle. It’s okay to move slower. To make time for joy. To do things just because they comfort you. I hope this space helps you reconnect with your own cozy, creative spark.
You can expect posts about cozy hobby ideas, how to make time for them, and reflections on what it means to live more softly. I’m so glad you’re here.

June’s Cozy Hobby of the Month: Starting This Blog
So what exactly is this Cozy Hobby of the Month thing?
When I was planning this new version of Perk and Pause, I wanted to do something special — something that would keep me creatively grounded and give readers something fun to follow along with. So I came up with a series: each month, I’ll explore one cozy hobby.
Sometimes it’ll be something brand new. Sometimes it’ll be an old favorite I want to revisit. Either way, I’ll share my journey with you through two blog posts: one at the beginning of the month to set intentions and one at the end to reflect on the experience. I’ll also send little updates in the newsletter as I go — you can sign up below if you want those cozy check-ins!
At the end of each month, I’ll share what I did, what I learned, and a few free resources in case you’d like to try that hobby too.
And this month’s cozy hobby? Starting this blog.
Instead of turning it into a hustle project, I’m approaching it as a creative outlet. Yes, I’d love for this blog to grow and support my creative journey over time. But right now? It’s about joy.
Here are my intentions for this month:
- Get the blog up and running. (Check!)
- Write a few introduction posts to help you get to know me and this space.
- Send cozy letters to your inbox.
- Meet some new cozy creative friends — maybe you’re one of them? Leave a comment, I’d love to hear from you!
